The Good Times has already reported on the sustained efforts of Friends of India, but more good news has ensued from the non-profit charity. Despite hard times, an anonymous donation of 100,000 Swiss francs is helping the organization achieve its goals. What are Friends of India’s achievements? Through the Richard Walsh Music Project, for example, Friends of India helps disadvantaged youth learn music. The non-profit also provides basic education to needy children, as well as installing classrooms and sanitation facilities. It builds orphanages. It empowers women by helping them to aim for a better life and to help themselves, providing links to microfinance, income generation and employment opportunities. And much more. In 14 years of existence, Friends of India has managed to raised over 2 million francs for its projects. Soon it hopes to build a school for the lowest caste in India, often referred to as the Untouchables.
