Caring Hearts Heal Smiles

Want to give a bit of joy? It might only cost you 60 cents. And that joy will bring a brand new smile.

Check out Operation Smile. What do they do? In their words: “Operation Smile provides free surgeries to repair cleft lip, cleft palate and other facial deformities for children around the globe.” More forcefully, the international charity states: “We’re a mobilized force of medical professionals and caring hearts who provide safe, effective reconstructive surgery and related medical care for children born with facial deformities.”

Just think about it for a moment: What if you had been one of the children born every three minutes with a cleft. Clearly your life would have been very different. Clearly right from the start the odds would have been stacked against you.

Dedicated medical volunteers at Operation Smile have “provided more than 3.5 million comprehensive patient evaluations and over 200,000 free surgeries for children and young adults” over 30 years of existence, working in more than 60 countries. That’s been possible due to the dedication of medical practitioners who provide surgeries, and donors who contribute their expertise and time to healing children’s smiles.

So in case you can’t go to India, Colombia, Morocco or Vietnam to work at one of Operation Smile’s Comprehensive Care Centers, join Smile Circle, “a global, passionate collective of advocates and philanthropists for Operation Smile who are taking action to give every child the right to smile”. Or be a local community volunteer. Or donate a surgery or even just a few cents.

You’ll truly be improving someone’s life forever.
