An Education for Lovisa

The Maya Library and Leapfrog Scholarship promote the education of orphans at the Charis Center and Junior School near Kampala, Uganda. The project encourages reading and writing, and creates an opportunity for graduates to continue their studies in secondary school.

Currently the Leapfrog Scholarship is sponsoring Lovisa, the first scholarship recipient, so she can continue her secondary studies and thus have a better chance of escaping poverty. Lovisa is featured on the project’s website.

So do you have old books in your library? What about those thick classics you read in school that you probably won’t read again? Send them to the Maya Library, or provide funds to buy school books locally by contacting LeapfrogScholarship@gmail.com.
