More Creative for Good

A few days ago The Good Times reported on an initiative called “Creative for Good“. It deserves a lot of attention — not least because their media outreach in their own words are “imagined, communicated and delivered in ways that move individuals, communities and whole societies to change the way they think and act” for the betterment of mankind.

So here’s good news about another of their campaigns.

“Every year in Germany, more than 100,000 children and young people are reported missing,” according to the Creative for Good website. To do something about that problem and help find those children, the “Germany Will Find You” national campaign was designed.

Several tactics have been devised to get Germany’s citizens involved in finding those who are missing. At a German ice hockey match, the players wore photos of missing children on their jerseys. A smartphone app was launched to identify those who have disappeared. When people surf the Internet and the pages or images they are looking for cannot be found, they are redirected to pages that show pictures of the missing young people.

These and other actions have turned “Germany Will Find You” into the “world’s largest network for tracing missing children.” Also according to the initiative team, “today, the Facebook platform is supported by more than 150,000 helpers (Facebook Fans). Four missing children have already been found” in Germany thanks to this cross-media campaign.

The Creative for Good initiative is led by the Global Agenda Council on the Future of Media, a group of media experts formed by the World Economic Forum, who describe their project as “an online repository of brilliant, inspiring and effective public education campaign case studies worldwide, as well as a brief ‘how-to’ guide and resources for organizations embarking on such efforts.”
